An extremely versatile singer, Rutene is known for his ability to seamlessly switch between jazz, opera, soul, funk, pop and musical theatre and his soulful, dulcet tones have been described as being “smooth like caramel”.

Soul Searching is Rutene’s rich vocal interpretation of classic Soul, R&B and Motown hits like “Whats Going On”, paying tribute to legends of soul like Otis Reading, Sam Cook, Marvin Gaye and Donny Hathaway.
Accompanied by some of Christchurch’s finest musicians and lead by musical director Hamish Oliver, the album is the perfect compilation of feel good songs to see in the summer season.
